Decide your limits before you start
In Greece betting is allowed only from age 21 (Article 48(5), Law 4002/2011), and it is entertainment that costs money. Before you open an account, decide two things:
- How much money: the most you are prepared to lose in a period, e.g. €40 a month.
- How much time: when and for how long you will bet.
If the operator offers limit tools on your account, set the same numbers there. On each operator’s profile we show only what we have verified from an official source.
The types of self-exclusion
According to the HGC, for online games there are:
- Indefinite exclusion: at least 1 year; not lifted automatically.
- Temporary exclusion: at least 1 month.
- 24-hour break.
Where to ask for it
At each operator separately. Normally you ask each licence holder to exclude you, through its official website. The exclusion applies only to the operator you apply to.
At all of them at once, through the HGC. The HGC says there is not yet an automatic, universal exclusion from every operator, because the national register of excluded players (E.M.A.) is under development. Until then you can email info@hgc.gov.gr with a solemn declaration (Υπεύθυνη Δήλωση) with your signature certified through gov.gr. The HGC undertakes to forward your request to every legal licence holder.
Help
Two official sources currently give different numbers. We show both, each with its source:
- 1114: EOPAE’s gambling advice line (EOPAE is the national organisation for the prevention and treatment of addictions). The HGC “Support structures” page points to it, and EOPAE’s contact page lists the number. The same HGC page also lists Ανώνυμοι Τζογαδόροι (a Gamblers Anonymous group).
- 210 9237777: the KETHEA helpline carried in the mandatory label of HGC Directive 3/2023.
The message the HGC sets for all commercial communication (Directive 3/2023) is: “RISK OF ADDICTION & LOSS OF ASSETS | PLAY RESPONSIBLY”.
Frequently asked questions
If I exclude myself at one operator, does it apply to the others?
No. According to the HGC, an exclusion applies only to the licence holder you apply to. For all of them at once, send a request to the HGC (info@hgc.gov.gr) with a solemn declaration signed through gov.gr.
How long does self-exclusion last?

Is there a single register of excluded players?
